Drop It Like It’s Hot (Out): Summer’s Freshest Releases

By Kirby Gwen, Broadcast Manager, Walmart Radio

Summer’s in full swing and I don’t know about you, but music is my favorite way to mark the moment. Whether I’m moving through a new wellness class, driving through town with the windows down, or just catching up in the group chat, I’ve always got something playing in the background (okay, or full blast).

I grew up in Detroit, so I’ve got deep love for a good beat, a great gallery and any excuse to hit the dance floor. And lucky for us, this summer’s soundtrack is stacked — full of big comebacks, new favorites and a few exclusive drops you can only find at Walmart.

Let’s get into it!

New albums to play now

Joe Jonas – Music for People Who Believe In Love

Big hooks and even bigger heart. Joe’s back with a sound that’s part throwback, part fresh start—built for late nights and loud speakers.

Miley Cyrus - Something Beautiful

From rock-tinged anthems to reflective ballads, Miley’s latest is all about raw honesty wrapped in bold, unforgettable vocals.

Cynthia Erivo – I Forgive You

A powerhouse voice with pure emotion, Cynthia’s debut blends soul, pop and quiet strength into a collection made for real, reflective moments. Bonus: If you’re counting down to Wicked: For Good this November, this is the perfect warm-up.

Lil Wayne – Tha Carter VI

Wayne’s still got it. Heavy beats, sharp bars and that unmistakable flow make this one a must for longtime fans and new listeners alike.

Benson Boone – American Heart - June 20

This sophomore album is packed with soaring vocals and heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics. With a mix of ballads and anthems, American Heart is built for long drives, open windows and full-volume singalongs.

Teddy Swims – I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy

Soul, grit, and big feelings—Teddy delivers heartache and healing in equal measure. It’s like a late-night conversation set to music.

Kesha – . (pronounced “Period”) – July 4

Kesha’s newest era is colorful, chaotic and completely her. This genre-blending album brings the party, the pop and plenty of personality. It’s everything you want when you need to shake off the day and dance it out.

Backstreet Boys – Millennium 2.0 – July 11, 2025

As the unofficial president of the BSB fan club—trust me, Millennium 2.0 is essential. Celebrating 25 years of one of the best-selling albums ever, BSB is serving up all the classics plus 13 bonus tracks and even a never-heard-before song called “Hey.”

What to look forward to

Madonna – Veronica Electronica

A dreamy remix of “Skin” is already teasing what’s to come when Veronica Electronica drops July 25. With eight reimagined tracks and a never-before-heard demo, the full album leans into moody, late-summer energy.  And “Skin”? It’s made for solo dance breaks with the lights low.

Sabrina Carpenter – Man’s Best Friend

We can’t listen to the full album until August 29, but Sabrina’s already set the tone with her summer-perfect single “Manchild.” It’s playful, pointed and perfect for car rides, friend group recaps, and calling it like you see it.

Jonas Brothers – Greetings From Your Hometown

The JoBros are back—and this seventh studio album feels like a love letter to where it all began. “Greetings From Your Hometown” kicks off with “Love Me to Heaven,” a smooth, retro-tinged single that’s already on repeat. With a live album and a Disney+ holiday movie soundtrack also on the way, it’s a Jonas summer in full effect—and we’re not mad about it.

The Black Keys – No Rain, No Flowers

They’ve already dropped the title track, and the full album lands this August. Gritty, soulful and made for end-of-summer evenings.

Maroon 5 – Love Is Like

Slick hooks, smooth vibes, and just the right amount of heartbreak—Love Is Like is classic Maroon 5 with a fresh twist. Perfect for late-night playlists and main character moods.
