Walmart and Sam’s Club associates saw P!NK light up the stage at Associates Week in June. But after the performance, we had the chance to hear from a different side of the artist—thoughtful, candid, funny and refreshingly open about the experiences that have shaped who she is.

During our conversation, P!NK talked about family, creativity and the choices that come with building a life and career on your own terms. She also reflected on the role honesty and vulnerability have played in her music and why staying connected to who you are matters when the world has plenty of opinions about who you should be.

That honesty has been a through line in P!NK’s career for more than two decades. Her music is deeply personal, but the themes behind it—identity, relationships, resilience and self-acceptance—have helped millions of listeners see pieces of their own lives in her songs.

One of the most memorable parts of our conversation centered on balance and the pressure many women feel to “have it all.” P!NK shared her perspective on what that idea means in real life, the choices and tradeoffs that come with it, and the importance of deciding for yourself what a full life actually looks like.
